Annual Town Meeting
Hanson Middle School
May 7, 2007
Present: Christopher Colclough, Mark Gallivan (late – arrived during Town Meeting), Jesse McSweeney, James Egan and James Armstrong. Also present Town Administrator Michael Finglas and Executive Assistant Meredith Marini.
7:00 p.m. Chairman McSweeney called the meeting to order.
Item I New Business . Whitman VFW has requested permission to conduct its annual Poppy Drive from May 10 through May 12 at Shaws Plaza.
MOTION by Armstrong, second by Colclough to approve the annual Poppy Drive. Voted 4 – 0
Item II Licenses – One Day Liquor One day liquor license requests from Melissa Samuelson of Abington for Saturday, May 19th from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a Wedding and Scott Kelly of Whitman for Sunday, May 27th from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a Christening.
MOTION by Armstrong, second by Colclough to approve the one day liquor licenses as printed. Voted 4 – 0
Item III Approve Minutes Reg. Session ~ April 10, 2007 – TABLED.
Item IV Dias Offer of Settlement - TABLED until May 22nd.
Item V Conservation Agent Position The Board briefly discussed the funding for the Conservation Agent’s position. Mr. Finglas informed the Board that based on the current income in the Notice of Intent fund, there will be enough money to cover one half of the salary for the next two years. The Board discussed the financing methods of the position and the potential of the Town fully funding the position from the operating budget.
MOTION by Armstrong, second by Colclough to adjourn to Town Meeting.
